Michal Martychowiec (b. 1987) is a Polish-British artist based in London and Berlin. He creates conceptual series of photographs, films, drawings, neon-lights, objects and environments. His mixed-media installations are characterised by intellectual and symbolic qualities: they exemplify his interest and involvement in history and anthropology of art. He uses historical language and visual traditions to construct an individual artistic narrative. His practice sources ideas from philosophy (both oriental and occidental), history, history of art, history of religion, literature, contemporary culture and communication.
